Follow the currents
A symbol is one thing in a dream. A current is what several different dreams have in common: a kind of situation, an activity, a way people show up. Climbing a staircase that never reaches the top is a current, even when the staircase turns into a ladder, a hill or an office with no top floor.
When you have enough dreams, the diary can read across all of them and propose a few currents. You decide which ones are real for you, rename them, and from then on new dreams are checked against them. Each current shows how often it runs through your nights, and whether it is growing, steady or fading. When one goes quiet it recedes, and it returns if it comes back.
Talk it through with Claude
